Small Press: Publisher Updates,

From Engine comics...

Hi all,

It's been a while, but the magazine Ain't It Cool.com called a "must
have" for indie comics is returning this July. In an attempt to reach as
broad an audience as possible, and to sidestep the ever increasing cost
of print distribution, REDEYE Vol. 2 will be a monthly full colour PDF
magazine available for download for £1/$1 at www.enginecomics.co.uk.

For those who have never heard of it, REDEYE was a quarterly print
magazine running from 2003 to 2007. It grew from 60 odd pages to over a
100 as we covered the ever growing independent comics industry. I
suspended publication in order to investigate how to make it a
commercially sustainable enterprise, and international distribution
outside Diamond's Previews. However the global recession kind of
scuppered that idea. Back issues are available on the website.

As ever though the magazine will only exist if you, the creators and
readers and publishers, get behind it. Which means you need to send your
press releases, images, review copies and links to me, the
editor@enginecomics.co.uk and start getting your work out there and
seen. If your work exists in the form of a strip blog or webcomic, you
will still need to provide the same information as you would a print
comic, rather than just send a link. Guidelines on how to write press
releases are available on request.

Following the same format as before with news on indies from across the
world, previews of upcoming books, indepth interviews with legends in
the industry and future stars, definitive articles on all aspects of the
medium, a huge critically acclaimed reviews section, and feedback from
our readers, we'll also be including, due to popular demand: a regular
Guide to Self Publishing Q&A for those looking for some advice, an open
submission for a 10 page comic strip each issue, and a rotating guest
column from those in the industry. Feel free to offer suggestions for
other additions to the format you'd like to see.

A facebook group for people to post their info, previews and links to
their comics from across the world can be found here:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=81309390962. If you want to be
included in the REDEYE PDF MAGAZINE itself you need to email me direct
with stuff at editor@enginecomics.co.uk. For a news piece we need a
press release, images at 300dpi jpegs and full ordering/contact details.
If you want a full preview page devoted to your title, in the EYECANDY
section, thats £25, limited to one per title. A full page advert is £30.

To post review copies contact me directly for post info.

REDEYE is also looking for article writers, reviewers and interviewers
for volume 2. Interested? Contact me directly with examples of prior work.

I hope you will get back to us and help bring indie comics to the masses.

Cheers
